The facts about luxury vinyl plank

Flooring is all about coverage, and we like to make sure we achieve the same thing, getting you all the facts that matter to your project. Here are a few more tips and hints regarding LVP products and applications.

Cost: There is a real range in pricing across the industry, from $4-$12 per square foot, based on several factors: materials, manufacturer, finish and supply.
Think half the price of Hardwood flooring. We see consumers wrestle every day with cost efficiency, and most choose LVP for long life and value.

Where to use: We talk to a lot of homeowners, and we are happy to say that across Canada, Mexico, and America, we are hearing that more and more folks find LVP is suitable for all areas of their home. For years, homeowners had to worry about replacing their flooring with a new type. Afraid of how water, traffic, and humidity in different areas of their homes could affect the flooring. Tile was often the go-to in bathrooms for instance-but no more. From bed to bath, basement to kitchen, the facts spell it out-100% waterproof, stain-resistant, flexible LVP can do everything you require, where you need it!

Transitioning between floors: We benefit from so much from talking with our customers, and we hear a lot of techniques and ways of transitioning between floors. Here are the best:

- Create a border in one of the rooms by actually using the planks to square off the area purposefully, so that adjoining floor is clearly delineated. It works because it looks intentional, reassuring the eye!

- Use separate patterns side by side: This also really works, although it seems counter-intuitive. When a color or color combo can be employed to “tie together” two patterns that are different, the result can be harmony.

- Threshold Pieces: Many handy folks simply create a threshold piece to act as a clear marker between rooms or areas. Online we find many suggestions and guides to either wood, metal or synthetic materials used in ultra-thin, colored, or built-up transitions. This allows a high degree of customization on the ground. We have even seen bricks laid into the floor surface to create a brick way border. Sure, it took a little digging and leveling…but it looks amazing!

- Mosaic or Patterned Tile: Some homeowners use a mosaic tile or some other patterned Tile that ties into the design scheme already on the floors. This creates an intentional statement, drawing attention to the transition, rather than attempting to mask or hide it! This means the homeowner feels confident about their choices and are not afraid of bold or unusual detail. We say: Go for it!

Better for the environment

LVP requires no trees cut down, no lumber mills grinding, and no compromise on grain or color, consistency or maintenance. We cannot refinish LVP: the stain, color, grain etc…will always be what they are, until they are replaced.
